Thank you to everyone who donated over the last 6 months to the building of a school in Zemene's village in Belessa, Ethiopia! Zemene and her uncle Menormelkam visited Minneapolis for the fundraising event and participated in a Q/A after the film's screening. They were presented with a check for $45,000 from Pathways to Children, a non profit hosting the screening of the film. This project has been a goal for Zemene and the film since 2007 and we are thrilled to have reached this stage. Over 200 children in the area of Belessa will soon have access to a proper elementary education. The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, (JDC) will be overseeing the building in conjunction with the Ethiopian government. We have not been given a time frame for the building to begin but hope it will be shortly after the rainy season ends in September.Continue reading
